Course Description

The BASLP program offered at Shravana is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in communication sciences and disorders. The curriculum emphasizes key domains such as audiology, speech-language pathology, language development, and clinical training. Audiology focuses on the science of hearing, balance, and speech disorders — an area where Shravana has pioneered services since its inception in Ballari in 1998.

Students explore Speech-Language Pathology, a vital sub-domain of Allied Health Sciences that deals with diagnosing and treating communication disorders. Language development is another essential focus, covering the stages, mechanisms, and disorders of language, equipping students to assess and manage communication challenges in various populations.

A significant strength of the program lies in its Clinical Training component, which ensures that students gain real-world, hands-on experience in diverse settings. This practical exposure builds on Shravana’s legacy of community outreach — including health check-up camps, free diagnostic services, and large-scale audiological screening programs like those conducted under the 'Chinnarulu-Sukhibhava' scheme in Andhra Pradesh. These experiences prepare graduates to deliver professional, community-focused care with confidence.

Shravana expanded its operations to locations such as Davangere, Bijapur, Belgaum, and Bangalore, growing into a multi-service institution. To provide therapy for children with hearing impairment, autism, learning disabilities, and cerebral palsy, Shravana started 'Shravana Pre-School and Training Center.' This center serves children from diverse backgrounds, offering professional intervention.
